Tier 1 (Empathy 1+)
- Read Emotions – Mark a die as Effectful; on success, identify a target’s dominant emotion and its source (removes 1 guesswork penalty).
- Calming Presence – Mark a die as Lucky; on success, remove 1 Slight from an ally or neutral NPC in the scene.
- Mirror Match – When roleplaying emotions to build rapport, gain +1 die to your next Social roll against the same target.
Tier 2 (Empathy 2+)
- Truth Sense (Empathy/Deception) – Once per scene, you may reroll 1 failed die when detecting lies.
- Anchor Ally – Spend 1 APR to remove all Slights from one ally (or prevent them from Faltering) in a Social Encounter.
- Compassion’s Edge – When you successfully soothe or support someone, you may shift their attitude by one step upward.
Tier 3 (Empathy 3+)
- Emotional Mirror – Mark a die as Persistent; on success, you may “tune” your emotional state to match a target’s, giving +1 die to all Social rolls against them.
- Empathic Bond – Once per session, you may forge a temporary Bond level 1 with an NPC by sharing a vulnerable moment.
- Pain Transfer – You may absorb 1 Slight from another character and carry it yourself (optional self-sacrifice).
Tier 4 (Empathy 4+)
- Soul Healer – You can erase all Slights and Bond damage from a willing target once per session.
- Unshakable Presence – Allies in the scene may use your Spirit instead of their own for Social resistance checks.
- Heart Reader – Mark a die as Effectful; on success margin 2+, learn the target’s deepest Bond or fear and gain +2 dice against it.
